Does the type R spoiler differ from the GSR spoiler as far as placement of the holes go?

Your questions have been answered in this thread already.... see below.

The places that are marked for drilling are not the same distance as they are on a coupe. The sedan spoilers are at least an inch or two longer than the coupes.

***Check out this album.***

You can see in the pictures of the underside of the deck that the holes for the spoiler are further out than the holes I had to drill. It doesn't look wrong at all on the outside. Its really only when you look under the deck that you can tell that it doesn't fit.

Now, if you already have holes drilled from a 4 door spoiler then you are hosed. A 2 door spoiler won't work if you already have holes drilled. If you have a roto zip drill then its not hard at all to cut out the holes for a spoiler in a sedan.

I haven't ever had anyone say that my spoiler doesn't look right and that includes car show judges. They do make 4 door Type R spoilers. I would look into getting one of those because it might look funny being so far from the edge of the trunk. A GSR spoiler doesn't look funny because it hangs over a bit. A spoiler that doesn't hang over would look weird.

There were actually four-door Honda Integra Type R's made for the home market in Japan. I haven't seen them anywhere else.

It's hard to believe that they made a spoiler for the two door and a different one for the four door, so I think the normal ITR spoiler would fit, but not in the same holes as the GS-R spoiler.

I think they were actually a whole asian-market thing.

ah, I see the point. Was just tryin to verify that the Type-R wing for coupes werent wider than the GSR wing for coupes. Which isnt the case...so still wont work. I missed it at first cause Jngrbrdman didnt mention the ITR wing specifically so wasnt clear on that.

He said that the Sedan spoiler differs from the GSR spoiler. My question was whether the type-r spoiler differs from the stock 2nd gen coupe spoiler.

Yes, the mount points are different between a G2 and an ITR because the G2 has a middle mount, plus the bodies are a slightly different shape and width.

Anyway, my input on the subject: an ITR spoiler on a non-ITR is just plain dumb. Why? It serves no purpose at all besides aesthetic value.

Here's an example, once again pertaining to the RX-7 world which I know so well. In the second generation (86-91) RX-7's, we have three different spoilers. Bear with me here, this is valuable information. From 86 to 87, there is the flat rubber Sport model spoiler, which is aimed at reducing the coefficient of drag, which along with a few other aero body parts, did very well. Then, in '88, came the "GTU" spoiler aimed at creating downforce for the rear drive wheels, and from 89-91 was an updated, larger version of the "GTU" spoiler. These three spoilers served a specific purpose, reduction of drag ("Sport" spoiler) or increase in downforce (88 and 89-91 "GTU" spoiler.)

Still reading? Good. On Acura Integras, the spoilers are completely for visual value, as in they have no performance benefit. When swapping spoilers in an FC RX-7, you gain some performance aspect, but in an Integra you do it just to look good. The ITR spoiler has no performance benefits, that's why I think it is completely pointless to have an ITR spoiler on a non-ITR.

Thank you, that is all.

While I don't really like the idea, there are far worse spoilers that could be stuck on the car. Aesthetically speaking it doesn't ruin the car, although on a sedan I think it'd look a bit out of place without the JDM front end.

Anyway, you can either try and get your hands on a real ITR sedan wing, or you can buy the Wings West copy if you're not overly concerned about things like authenticity. Just be sure you don't tell anybody it's a real type-R wing. It's part number 591339L and it sells for $228.67 at NOPI. Just type in that part number in the search field in the top left of their home page, and don't worry about the picture of the hatchback on theh item page--that's just a stock photo to show what the wing looks like.

*edit* I just read through the middle portion of the thread--there's no way a Type-R spoiler, real or fake, is going to make it onto a 2nd gen.
