Default header fitment

I'm sick and tired of buying headers that don't fit my engine. I first bought some DC headers that they claim fits any B-series. Well, the headers were a little dented on the bottom so when I put it on the engine, it didn't clear the oil pan. I thought, since the header was hit on bottom, it might have bent the header upward causing the header to not clear my oil pan. So I had a muffler shop bend the header down a little bit to clear it. Now recently, I just bought some DC headers again (they also claimed it fit any B-series motor) and this time there is no hit on the bottom. But when I go to install it, the damn thing doesn't clear my oil pan again!!!! So it leads me to conclude that when people say it fits all B-series motor, they are lying. I haven't measured oil pans, but I'm pretty sure the Type R oil pan is bigger than the B16 or B18. I'm still looking for any type R header (used - I'm not rich) if anybody wants to sell to me. But it makes me angry to know I wasted $250 bucks for nothing when I could've used it to buy a brand new JDM Type R header instead of buying two used headers that don't even fit correctly.

I thought this was a little weird, so I consulted a retailing friend.

He says that you might have an issue with scant information on the part of the person who sold you the headers, but not an issue with DC. If the parts literature refers to fitting any B series head, it really refers just to the head, and the oil pan is a completely different story.

The DC JDM 4-1 ITR header has long been regarded as an economical alternative to the OEM JDM header, which is itself a very good buy as far as horsepower per dollar goes.

I have an SMSP system header-to-tailpipe now, but had an OEM JDM header before that, and you could definitely feel the difference.

If I thought for a second, I could think of half a dozen people who had DC JDM 4-1 headers on their cars, I'm sure.

No, the both times that I read the ads they claim would fit any B-series motor, not B-series head. But I'm still doing research. I actually have a B18C. (JDM ITR motor). Not a B18C5 block. (USDM motor) I'm wondering if that has anything to do with having different size oil pans? Or if they even have different size oil pans?

are you sure the block height is shorter on a b16? I thought only the rods were shorter but the block height was the same..

I'm telling you, you just got steered wrong at the reseller end.

I can give you several reseller names who are in the habit of selling the DC JDM 4-1 header for both USDM and JDM cars.

They fit fine, and work great, especially for the price.

Well first, the ITR (JDM or USDM) oil pan is simply a P72 oil pan (GSR). And secondly, I think snoopy's on the right track.

Is there any particular reason why your name is at the end of every thread in the ITR Forum, Dave?
