where to get an alternator
had a friend that did a mini me swap on his 89 si. Tried three different cheap pepboys alternators before giving up on them. Couldnt get his car to start til he got the more expensive one. Just get the higher end one from a store like pepboys or NAPA. Install it yourself. Shouldnt be too tough.
my brother works for NAPA. I'm sure he can get me a decient deal. It's going to be tough to do on my own though. My apt. complex tends to not like it when they see my car on jackstands. Oh well, I pay them enough to live there. they can deal with it. I've never changed on one an Integra before. Is it real hard?
You have to remove the driver side axle and center halfshaft to get the alternator out. It is best to just raise the front left corner, that way you won't have to drain the transmission when you pull the halfshaft out of the differential. It's fairly simple, really. The hardest part is probably getting the lower balljoint out of the LCA... just use the scissor jack to carefully press up on the brake rotor, which should lift the spindle and balljoint out of the LCA.
I found a website called Alternator Starter Express that has remanufactured alternators for about $130 (for a 94 Integra anyway) and they come w/ 3-year warranty.
