Default Where to get a better than stock alternator?

Would any of the auto stores(Autozone, Pepboys, Sears, Advance Auto, etc.) carry a better than stock alternator for my 91 CRX Si? Has anybody here upgraded their alternator because of their stereo? Also, if anybody knows, what are the amp ratings of the stock alternator compared to a better one that puts out more power? Any info appreciated.

I wish I had the money to upgrade the alternator. I would love to run a bigger system.

Just plan on what you want to run, then see how much juice you need, and buy one from there. I am not sure if those auto stores carry high output alternators.

If you search around some bigger audio boards, you can get more information on where to buy HO alternators.

take ur old alternator to a reputable rebuilder and if hes good he can pump it up for you...theres a guy who i know round here can rebuild almost any car alternator up to a higher amperage and its just like new

Capacitors, capacitors, capacitors. Why does no one run/mention these. They take a huge load off of your stock alternator/battery combo.
