Default Silencer

I've been trying to find a silencer to fit my 4" exhaust.
After searching for a while with no luck, I was wondering
if it would be hard to make one.

Whats the whole Idea behind a silencer insert? Is it
just a peice of metal that changes the diameter of
the exit? Or is there more to it than that?

if your exhaust doesnt have a hole in the bottom of it to screw on the silencer then you cant get one.

I am actually quite curious as to how they work myself

well i know that some exhausts come with the hole already because they have a silencer made specially for them. If you find one it might not fit right and in turn not function properly.

PS. Get a Thermal

well the whole idea behind making one is basically just making the exit smaller. you can prob take a piece of pipe and a big ass washer and weld them together and stick it in there if you wanted.

I was thinking of just swapping the muffler, but I
don't really want to put any money into my winter
car.

You know the smaller diameter tube on the silencer
insert... how far does that go into the muffler?

I'll post a pic in a sec to try and expalin what I mean...

So do I need to make the smailler diameter portion long
enough to fit in that hole? Or does it matter?

note:
The picture is darker on some monitors , and you can't see
the smaller hole inside, that the arrow points to.
