AEM Icebox?!
Since its been raining more here in SoCal, i decided to put my stock intake back on (AEM cold air aftermarket)....but after seeing that the aem/K&N filter fit inside the stock airbox, i figured i'd give it a shot, and voila....AEM ICEbox

the angles kinda off, but its not too bad. i dont have the stock resonator air box deal any more, so its just the big hole on the bottom of the box, and the space in the back of the airbox that didnt fully cover the rubber part of the filter.

I live in socal too and have a V2 so I was pretty worried when the sky fell in the other day. Luckily there wasn't any standing water that was too high where I live but I did hear some odd noises coming from the direction of the filter. Kind of stuttering, vibrating noises. I didn't feel anything though and no noises came from the engine itself.
When it rains I try to keep the RPMs extra low so that in the very remote chance that I do suck water up I can minimize the damage done.

Richard Simmons would probably come to your house and make you dinner before you even come close to haveing any problems with water getting in there.
If you really look... the diffrence from stock intake and a CAI... is about 2-5 inches down. PLUS, the filter needs to be at least 90% SUBMERGED for anything bad to happen.

haha yeah the weather in houston has been crazy latley.. i didnt see standing water untill it was too late... it was around 1/3 my wheel.. when i went over it nothing happend but i turned into a parking lot really quick and my car just bogged down and died.... let my car sit there for about 20-30 mins.. tried to start it up but nothing happend.. it just bogged and died... then i decided to step on the gas and it sounded like air couldnt get through so i revved it pretty high.. then it started working agian.. avoided all waters at all cost.. if i ever did mess up my engine.. b18c5s goin in h:

already been thier and done that, but i couldnt get my aftermarket filter to fit, so i put the stock on it, with the aluminum short ram, and on the resonator box, i cut that tube that goes from underneith the air box untill it meets with that big box, so its still like a cool air intake, just more restrictive and quite, too quite

yeah you do need actual submersion for the engine to suck in any significant amounts of water...
BUT... Watts (a city in LA) took 1.5ft of rain and almost a foot of hail on top of that in one night. It really rained like hell out here so there was a significant chance of hitting that much standing water. That's why we were worried.
