I live in socal too and have a V2 so I was pretty worried when the sky fell in the other day. Luckily there wasn't any standing water that was too high where I live but I did hear some odd noises coming from the direction of the filter. Kind of stuttering, vibrating noises. I didn't feel anything though and no noises came from the engine itself.

When it rains I try to keep the RPMs extra low so that in the very remote chance that I do suck water up I can minimize the damage done.
