In all likelyhood you can get Wal-Mart to change your oil for just as cheap as you doing it yourself, but that's not the question at hand.

I jack the car up, yes. I put it on jack stands.
The oil drain plug is on the bottom (backside) of the drain pan, which is a big square black thing. You can't really miss it. I guess it's near the front of the car and on the driver side (kind of centrally located).

The filter is more near the center of the car (and engine) and basically tucked in between a bunch of crap, and the back of the engine.

do what i does... just drive it up the curve.. 2 side wheels on curve.. 2 side wheel off curves.. no jack nessary.. and it's safer.. and if you cant findd the plug for your oil you shouldn't change your oil. sounds like you never change oil before.. (you gotta get down and dirty...)

how do you lower the car again to make sure you get all the oil out?

this is what i do:
- jack it up, unbolt the drain plug, drop it back down, let it drain for about an hour.
- raise it again. put the drain bolt back on. take the oil filter off.
- unbolt the drain plug once more to get any last remnants of oil out.
- bolt it. put the new filter on. drop it. put in fresh oil. done.

I'm a slacker and just leave it jacked up while it drains.
I guess I like to make my car remember it's heritage, of old oil.

Hahahaha

yea, the small amount of old oil left in the engine is pointless, that's overkill, theres no way to get every drop out and it's really irelevant, if the engine is jacked up(from front i assume) it will run the oil out better than level since the plug is in the back wall of the pan. as long as most of the oil is out and filter is changed your good to go. once you crank the engine it will lightly contaminate new oil with what was left in topside of the engine anyway.

Yeah, I have those ramps you drive up on, and I just leave it there, no driving down obviously. I just got one of those quick change things, so no more worrying about stripping the old ass threads on the pan. Just stick the part up in there, and connect the hose.
