Default B16A2 into 99 Civic EX (d16y8)

I'm new here and got here through a search.. I've been looking for information about doing a swap. I have a 99 Honda Civic EX. Stock with D16Y8 engine. I bought a B16A2 engine out of a Honda del sol. I have the ECU with it, and a mutilated engine wiring harness. I have both ends, ECU and Engine, and was wondering if it's just plug and play.. or will i have to rewire??? Should I reconnect the wires or is it possible to use the D16Y8 engne harness to connect the engine and use a OBD2b to a OBD1 ECU to get the engine to run correctly.. Is there any other rewiring i'll have to do..

The delsol is a B16A3, isn't it? Anyway, obd1 and obd2 use different plugs. Your '99 harness won't work without modification. Either change all the plugs on your Civic's harness or buy the right harness for the B16 and use an adaptor. Either way you've got some wiring to do.

First off... Thanks for the reply.. I appriciate the info.. Second.. If I get the harness for the del sol, b16a2, can i just connect it to the ECU or will I still have a little rewiring to do?? And if so, can you help me get the info for the wiring on what i'll have to do?? I can't seem to find much info.. Most of the info is B16 into a 95 civic...

If the b16 is obd2 then just get the 99-00 civic si engine harness and ecu. You can even use the stock mounts from the same EM1.

It's not a B16 from the 99-00 si.. I'm got a b16 from the del sol which has a OBD1 Ecu..

then you will need to get the ecu harness adapter....i should also state that it is against swapping an engine from an earlier obd status. from a dmv standpoint.

So.. If I get the wiring harness from the engine and connect it to the ecu from that same engine, I will still need a wiring harness adapter?? would it be a OBD1 to OBD1 ECU adapter???

I am doing the same swap in the same car....Use your stock engine harness on your car. You will need to buy a obd2b-obd1 conversion harness. I ordered mine from here http://www.jhpusa.com/catalog/produc...96469dd3f5dd78
you are using this to convert your obd2 car to obd1. Parts that aren't on your car that you need or came with the swap are a b-series shift linkage, b-series axles with intermediate shaft. You will also need a b16 del sol or 99-00 si rear tranny bracket. If these parts did not come with your swap, you need them. Your harness will work but some of the plugs on your wiring harness will not connect to the plugs on the motor. The easist thing to do is cut your plug off and wire the plug from the harness you have with the swap onto your stock harness. These are some of the things I have seen so far....I am getting ready to swap mine in to as we speak and the only thing I don't know right now is if my ac and power steering will bolt right up or do I have to use those off of the swap. See I kept mine ac and ps still connected to my car and I don't want to unhook them if they will bolt on to the motor. But that is my only problem so far, I will find out when I do the swap here in a couple weeks.
