Dash Prob
I got into my car yesterday and my dash is completely off. No rpm's, no mph, no gas readings, no nothing... My turn signals don't work either. I have checked all fuses that i know of(the box under the steering wheeel and the one in the engine bay and don't see anything blown. One thing that does happen is when i try to use the emergency lights it blows the fuse in the engine bay for the hazard lights. i put a new one in and it blows real quick. i have checked all connections on the back of the dash. nothing seems to be disconnected or anything. When i startup the car the SRS light and the battery light comes on but not the other lights that usually come on for checks or whatever. you know how the CEL and a couple others come on at the beginning. has anyone had the same prob? Please, i don't want to pay honda 70 an hour for troubleshooting... Thanks in advance.
the entire dash board cluster is powered by two plugs. Depending on what year your car is, the speedometer is either mechanical (91 and older) or electric (92 and up). I know some Hondas have a removable dome over the cluster, but for some, you have to pull the entire dash board. If you have a one-piece dash, tehre's *i think* 6 12mm bolts...
one at the center of the windshield, two at the far edges of the dash where the doors close to meet the dash, two down below those two, and one bolt that's centered below the ashtray, holding the dash to the floor. with those out, you'll be able to slide the dash back far enough to see if any of those plugs have shaken loose.
