Default Shifting prob

I have a '95 civic ex and I have a Act street/strip clutch and a skunk 2 short shifter..

The problem is that when I take off fast and hit about 6k-7k and shift it into second and I get it into gear (I think) and it grinds.. But when I am just driving and shift into second I dont get a grinding noise..

I dont think that I'm missing the gear, but I dunno what the hell is wrong.. But I'm assuming its driver error.. Or maybe somethings loose..

Oh also since I got the act clutch installed I press all the way down on it and it kinda grinds, I mean not like gears grinding, but I mean like when I have the car off or on it just sorta makes a grinding noise..

Any input would be greatly appriciated..

Thankx

Justin

that used to happen to me in my civic dx, it's probably a syncro going bad. Nothing to really worry about until it starts doing it in normal driving. Those are the first things to go bad.

I have an ACT in mine too and it was doing the same thing last week. It's not the clutch though. I took it to the dealer to have some other work done and had them look at the tranny at the same time cuz I thought my fluid might be low. It turns out that my clutch master cylinder is pretty much shot. If those go bad then they can cause the shifting problem you described. They are replacing mine along with the top tranny seal and changing the fluid. I get it back today. I'll let you know how it is when I get it back.

A change of tranny fluid could also help. Sounds like you're shifting faster than the synchro can handle, and/or the clutch isn't fully disengaging.
