Well, I called it. The car won't stat and the CEL is on. I'll test it tomorrow and post what I got. I downloaded that nifty video for checking it, and I got a handy note pad to write stuff down.

Meh, shit happens. It'll all get taken care of I'm sure. I tried checking it right now, I'm tired so I can't quite define the flashes. Looks like it's doing, 1 and 10.

Also, when doing the code check thingy, my SRS light flashes. Normal or no? And my oil light stays on, and my battery light. Is that becasue I just drained the oil and just put the battery in?

Okidoke, well, i took a breather, got a rockstar engergy drink, kicked back, watched some tv and went outside to look at the ECU again. It's only throwing 1 code thats 1 digit. So I can't tell if it's 10 or 1. I'll use my digital camera to shoot a 30 second vid of it.

Not normal for the SRS to blink.

I believe it is normal for the oil and battery light to stay on though.

The SRS works like your ECU does. It has it's own central unit that has a report flashing mechanism just like the CEL. You must have faulted your SRS system somehow. I believe the HELMS has a walk-through on defining the problem.

The CEL shouldn't really be showing you codes yet if you can't even start the motor. I don't think...

I don't think it runs through the diagnostic until the car is actually started so it can check the sensors. What's it doing that it won't start?

That is what I was thinking too. I thought you couldn't throw a code unless the engine was running and the ECU discovered a problem.

Is it a long flash, or a short one? Like WCS and Schmoo said: I don't think the ECU can throw a code if it has no sensor input yet.

What is the car doing when you try and start it? Crank but no start? Clicking starter (no cranking)? Slow cranking?
