Default tein coilovers

waZZzZZzzaaaaa! i recently went to a downtown auto shop to ask for pricing and their opinions on different coilovers. we were talking and teins came up and they said that tein coilovers may be expensive but they are -not- tested. is this true? i thought teins were track tested and are of high quality, hence the high prices. all feedback would be appreciated. thanx

The SS coilovers by Tein are pretty new which is why the subject of track testing was probably brought up. I just thought that the SS's main selling point was that it was meant for the street and not the track. Might want to contact Tein themselves if you're not sure about it.

I would trust Tein more than the no name coilovers though. At least they put their other procucts on the track rather than thinking of making a quick buck.

For Hondas, the SS line is based off the HA line. The only differences that I know of are:
1. Rear shock/LCA mounting points are meant for USDM rear LCA's intead of the JDM ones
2. Softer spring rates
3. No tender springs.
The changes let you mount them on USDM control arms and have a softer ride while being cheaper. They are still 16 way adjustable though and made of steel.

I got the SS's on my CX and it made a good difference. I've been previous owner of just springs, adj. springs and shocks, and now these and I must say I think they're a real good bargain for what you get. Just my opinion...

Personally, if you arent a frequent weekend auto-x'er or track tracer, just stick with the sleeve type coilovers and adj. dampers. Save your money and put it torwards other suspension parts and engine upgrades.

But if you really want them and have the money to get them....go for it. This is just my input and opinion.

I see where you're coming from, but the fact that the only thing that is holding up my car right now are a bunch of rubber bands (Skunk uses rubber grommets instead of bolting the sleeve to the shock) doesn't give me a great deal of confidence in my suspension.

I know that most of the folks here think that GC's are the shiz, but I just can't seem to use another set of sleeve coilovers again. So I'm just gonna spend a little extra for a set of Tein's.
