The SS coilovers by Tein are pretty new which is why the subject of track testing was probably brought up. I just thought that the SS's main selling point was that it was meant for the street and not the track. Might want to contact Tein themselves if you're not sure about it.
For Hondas, the SS line is based off the HA line. The only differences that I know of are:
1. Rear shock/LCA mounting points are meant for USDM rear LCA's intead of the JDM ones
2. Softer spring rates
3. No tender springs.
The changes let you mount them on USDM control arms and have a softer ride while being cheaper. They are still 16 way adjustable though and made of steel.
