The EP3 is a very nice car, but I think the problem with it is that you can get cars that have similar or better performance (SVT Focus, SRT-4, Mazdaspeed) for a better price.

In the beginning your statement would hold true. But after a few months on the sales floor, dealers started to become aware of the increasing unpopularity of the EP3. I heard in some instances dealers were letting them go simply to free lot space for $13-14 K!

Now with the official word from Honda Motor Co. that the current EP3 format will cease to exist. Beyond the producation year 2004. The price will only further decrease when the new Si is announced.

In my humble opinion, baechoo...wait till the next generation Si debuts. Power is supposed to be increased, possibly by implanting the k20a2 from factory, and will come in coupe form.

Unless you're partial to hatchbacks and want the reliability of a new car, I would wait.

Otherwise, if you don't want to wait, like the styling of the current EP3, and are satisfied with its current performance. I say definately go for it. You can pick it up for a fantastic price, the engine is better than any previous years Si, (IMO) the k-series is beginning to overshadow any B-series before it. Turbo kits and superchargers are readily available for it now, styling can be MUCH improved with the available aftermarket, and its new car HONDA reliability for a great price IMO.

IMO, the ep3 civic is awesome. I know that you can get cars for about the same price that will perform as well, but it's a honda. I think with minor upgrades the cars can look awesome. Look at jdm honda parts' ep3. It's one of my favorites. skunk2 also did one that put down good #'s. I would buy one if YOU like it. If it was me... I would buy a used one and then build it from there.

I have an EP3 that I use as a daily driver.

It's a fine little car.

At the time I bought mine, friends also bought two others, and all three of them were $16,000. For $16,000 it's an awesome car. For the $20,000 list, you could probably find nicer cars.

An economical little handling improvement is to find the RSX Type S swaybars. This will give you a thicker bar in the back and a thinner one in the front. It improves the character of the car and does make it more fun in the corners.

The Mugen Sport Suspension is also a fine addition, but a bit costlier at around $1100, IIRC. I can recommend it.

30,000 miles already, and running strong.

I got my EP3 for a good price and personally, I think its a very solid car. It may not have as much power as the rest of the cars in its class, but with some mods to the exterior and the engine and it can definitely hold its own. Its good great potential.

I love mine. It's a real solid car. Yes, if you can find one cheap, go for it. And finding one cheap, shouldn't be a problem!

And I love hatches. The Si is for the hatch always in my opinion!

well guys i thought about it and read your opinions and i decided to get it im picking the car up today. Found a good price for the car i would say ($16,699) only wit 185 miles on it newaize it seems like its a dependable car definitely. h:

now i need to think about what to do with my car i was thinkin of turbo but i think if i want to turbo the car the best plan for me would be forgetting about that for now and think about it after about 30,000-60,000 miles. so i would appreciate it if you guys help me out with sum suggestions with parts such as (intake, exhaust, etc.) im still searching here and there. i was looking at greddy or apexi what do you guys think?

Hi all....After spending a few weeks, surfing around here, I've finally come up with something to ask....First, Within the next month or month-and-a-half, i would like to buy the 2004 Civic Si....but before i went ahead, i would like some more help....I was a huge fan of the 99-00 style Civic Si, i'm sure lots were too....I especially loved the fact that car got everything for it.....Not just your 3 basic bolt-ons.....My first question would be: Will the 04 Si's recieve more than just the 3 basic aftermarket bolt-ons, ie, pullys, cams, pistons, rods? Bodykits, really do nothing for me(but the HFP is actually pretty sweet), speed is what i'm after, and the Si is what my bank account will let me buy, lol.....
In my humble opinion, baechoo...wait till the next generation Si debuts. Power is supposed to be increased, possibly by implanting the k20a2 from factory, and will come in coupe form.
This was my other question...I have heard about the Next Si coming in a coupe form..What I would like to know, will it be the civic coupes which are out now, but will they just in-turn receive, hopefully, the K20a2 engine, some wish full thinking here, maybe the HFP too? I know that the HFP is optional with the coupe, but coming standard would be nice….. One concern with the K20a2 is, won't Honda be concerned with sales affecting the RSX-S, if the next generation Si does indeed give birth to the K20a2 engine? Are there any pictures that show-off the NEW style Si coupe? I can seriously understand Honda's attention of wanting to add more power to the Si models, seeing how Toyota is just on a spree of releasing some nicely beefed up cars, ie, the Corolla XRS, and the Sicon Tc which will come in 2 different power level models...
All the help will be appreciated.....Thank you....

My girl just bought a 04 SI two days ago. She traded in her 00 SI for it, and the difference in outstanding. The upgrade from a 1.6 to a 2.0 is very noticiable. The power is distributed well throughout the powerband. In the 00 SI you cant feel any power until 5500rpms. Plus the interior is so nice. So in short I say get it. Dont get the HFP package its way overpriced.
