2000 Si N20 checklist
i want to put my g/f's Si on the bottle (55-75 wet or dry) for the occasional mustang that needs to be put in its place...can't have the V8 guys beating up on my girl. anyway, the Si already has:
-dc sports 4-1 header
-high flow cat
-greddy street exhaust
-AEM intake
in the mail:
-MSD external coil cap
-MSD wires
-MSD blaster 3 coil
-MSD 6-AL
what other things should i look at before the juice...this is stuff i thought of
-rpm window switch for n20 activation
-adjustable cam gears on stock cams to take advantage of the scavenging effect of the long tube header OR different cams
also what do the hondas like better wet or dry N20 setups? i personally am running a twin 50 shot dry setup on a dual TB throttle body intake manifold i made for one of my fieros, i like the dry shot cause i don't have to worry about blowing my intake manifold off of the car like with the wet shots...anyway, someone with some n20 experience please give me some advice, thanks!

the kit that you are describing for your girls car will work on a STOCK car... so you will be fine
id go with an NX wet kit.. they have good results on hondas... i personaly have an NOS dry kit... either of those would be fine...
Screw the brand name kits and get a new kit off ebay for $279.00 and use a NOS brand nozzle and window switch. The window switch is a must for saving her motor if she does'nt drive well. I would also suggest an AEM adjustable fuel pressure regulator and an air/fuel guage to see if she runs lean (which she should'nt with a 50 shot). There is no need for a wet kit since her stock motor can't take advantage of it anyway. Wet kits are for 150HP+ which a stock B16A could not handle for long.

things i don't agree with...
1. there is more of a differance between kits than JUST the nozzles.. in a lot of cases the valve on the bottle is better on higher end kits, also there can be a HUGE differance in solonoids... SOME cheap kits do just have rebadged good solonoids, but not all... so buying a good kit is a better start as you will get much better quality stuff... and the god kits don't cost that much more
2 IMHO an a/f gauge is completely useless, i got mine before i had a clue.. and i just keep it because of the pretty lights... if you go really rich or lean it will be outside the viewable window on a digital gauge and you will not know whats going on.. an anolog egt will tell you for sure how the cars running...
3. wet kits can be jetted WAY bellow 150... the advantage of a wet kit is more even fuel/nitrous distribution
well after doing some reading i've decided to order an MSD rpm window switch, adjustable timing gears and probably a NX wet kit.
i can't decide if i want to send back the MSd 6AL and get a digital 6+ (or the digital SCI, but its not red like everything else
) in its palce so i can use the single stage retard function on it for the juice. does the B16 need to have the timing retarded for a 55-75 shot (i didn't change the timing on my fiero with my 100 shot...so i want to make sure on this part), if so i'll get the digital 6+ instead.
back in the day i had an '88 prelude Si, i had adjustable cam gears on it and did the -4/+4 routine, is that the best setting for the B16?
i have the correct spark plug #'s written down somewhere, but just to double check i sohuld be going with 2 heat ranges colder, correct?
last but not least, whats a good rpm activation for the N20? i'm assuming the cutoff sould be like a 7900 or 8000 chip.
thanks for your help fellas!

a 55-75 shot is a pretty broad range.. there are things that i would do in prep for a 75 shot that i would not do for a 50/55 shot.. i have a 60 shot on my single cam right now and have stock ignition (not retarded at all) and my plugs are only one heat range colder and ive had NO problems.. a window switch is a VERY nice feature.. in the couple years ive had nitrous ive ONLY had one issue... missed a shift and hit the rev limiter on juice.. took the metal off the tip of the spark plug.. lol but didn't brreak any thing.. i was lucky..
good luck with the kit.. nx is a great choice..
what specifically would u do differently for a 75 vs a 55? i would like to run a small shot but be able to run a bit larger shot for maybe a 1/4 run with her car...
thanks!

55 id just run colder plugs...
75 id run colder plugs and definately retard the timing... maybe even two step colder
and id definately run at least 93 octane for both.. i personaly run 94...
