I was wondering if anyone has used this type of shield on their civic, and if it worked out?

Link isn't valid.. but I know what that is.

I have not tried it, but that is what people would need to use if they want to use a D2S/D2R Xenon bulb in their H4 housing. I strongly believe it's a must, for reducing glare.

mine came built on the bulb.. but it's a low and hi beam kit so the shield covers the bottom so all the light reflects off the top of the reflector and down toward the road.. i actually had to remove the stock shield that's inside the housing so that the hid one will fit..

for hi beam the bulb retracts so that the lighting goes through a slit on the bottom allowing for hi beam.

Blurr, Does the Black headlight housing reduce the glare produced by hids? and do you have any pictures of your lights against the wall or on the wall, if so please post them. Thanks

the hid bulb is within the shield. the bottom is pretty much completely shielded with the exception of a small slit (approx. 1/8") near the base of the shield. the hid lighting reflects off the top of the housing and shines down on the ground.. the bottom is shielded so it doesn't blind anyone (pretty much like the lexus). if you look at the lexus hid pattern, you'll notice that you only see light reflected off the top half of the reflector, not the bottom.

for high beam, the bulb retracts back so the arc of the bulb will be where the slit is letting the light shine through to reflect off the bottom of the housing and shine up.

i dont' have any lighting pictures yet.. i'll try to take some tonight.

and the black housing doesn't really have much effect on lighting whether positive or negative..

I have some of the caspers shields, and they are probably the best ones you can get if you are going to implant HID into a H4 housing. Unfortunatly, even with a good adapter the civic headlights are still pretty badly glaring. The beam pattern is somewhat narrow, but even and well flowing with the caspers shields.. the main problem is just excessive light flying high and annoying other cars (even with the good shield it does this). You will also lose your high beams.

I had my set of shields anodized black, so less yellow reflects upwards and you get a little more of a blue'ish looking light, but it didn't help the glare situation. The end result for me was to retrofit xenon projectors, then build a better set with xenon projectors. Once you go drive in a OEM xenon projector car, it will change your perspective on HID.. The housing and aiming device means the world, the bulb itself means far less then you'd expect.
