when i brake... the engine dies

are you talking about a capatcitor for your system? if you are, you really dont need a digital readout on top. a normal one with it works just fine and is a good amount cheaper.

I like the idea of it being a brak-vacuum problem. Maybe the brake booster line (off the IM I beleive) is pulling down the MAP sensor, and causing the IACV to idle your car to a stall? Turn up the idle maybe?

if your car is an automatic unplug your tcc solenoid on the tranny if it is bad the solenoid will not release your torque converter and it would be like coming to stop in a manual and not pressing in the clutch the car will stall itself out just an idea

crx's were not available with lockup torque converters.
