Anyone out there know which engines I can put in the 1990 4ws prelude? Bolt in or mount kits..

Thanks

You may have to disable the 4ws, but you can swap a h22, h23, or f22 into a 3rd gen.

any B series motor is nearly a drop-in affair.

F and H series motors will require some creativity.

Incorrect. The only "drop-in" motors are the 3rd gen B20A and B21A's. All other motors will need mount kits.

The 3rd gen 4WS is mechanical, there is nothing to disable.

Unless you want to do a bunch of work to shove an H22/23 in there (the only worthwhile swap into a 3G 'Lude), you'd be best off just turboing your B20/21. Unfortunately, there is almost an utter lack of aftermarket support for the 3G 'Lude, which is too bad, they're sweet cars.

Not even close. The B20A/B21A are some bastard engines.

I have heard of a guy that does conversions to B-series DOHC VTEC heads and the B20A/21A blocks to mate the two together, but the results were questionable at best.

What about the B18C, B18C1 or B18C5? Is their any major problems putting then in?

It's pretty much the same amount of work as putting in an H22A, except you might need to custom make the mounts (I know there's pre-made H22A mounts, but I haven't seen any for B18's)
Plus the cost of the motor will be more than an H22A.

It's doable but an H22A will cost less and have more power.

With the H22a, I know its about 200 CC's bigger, does this mean I'd need a custom hood too? Or do the mounts give you the room?

the mounting kit places the engine low enough to fit under the hood
