B18C1 Turbo Info...
My friend wants to swap in a B18C1 into his 97 Civic 4Door and turbo it. He says he wants to ATLEAST run 300whp, a little more if possible. He'd like to do this with as little work on the internals as possible. The problem is he also wants a fast spooling turbo, that will quickly spool between 2K-3Krpm. If there's any kits he could use that'd be great, but he has no problem going all custom either. He wants to know what he's going to need to achieve all this.
I'm trying to help him out since he's not as Internet savvy as I am. He already took my advice into getting the C1 instead of the C5 (type R) motor, because it'd be easier to turbo righ out of the box without having to worry about getting low compression pistons. It was advice I got from another website.

Well I don't think he plans on putting down 300whp on stock internals, he just dosen't want to be replace what isn't necessary I guess. But he really wants that much power- so whatever you guys say is necessary for such power, he will do. Atleast let me know what he'll need and how much it'll cost so I can break the news to him later. Hehe.
250 on 15 lbs is impressive, nothing to be ashamed of at all. 300 is hard, u would need very deep pockets indeed, unless u were doing a h22 setup in which case this would be a little easier, but rods pistons, upgrading ur entire fuel system, turbo management systems, tons of tuning, and u might get close. but dont expect the engine to hold up if ur not willing to completely rebuild it. cuz 2 bars and over is gonna destroy a honda engine, may take a year or 2 but it will eventually falter, just too much pressure, without seriously building up the bottom end and completely changing ur ignitions system, fuel system and bottom end. not to mention valve train.

hmmm...first of all, a custom turbo setup would be needed, along with a larger turbo, so kiss fast spooling goodbye. it is possible to hit over 300hp on a stock block. the highest i've seen on a stock block is 350whp @ 15 lbs. however, stock block does not mean stock head. also, this guy still spend TONS of money on this setup. he had a t3/t4 turbo, intake mani, test pipe w/ 3" exaust, turbo cams, 12k rpm springs, retainers, etc, port+polish, honddata2, and im sure a bunch of other crap i cant think of. btw, this was a b16 on a 99-00 si...i wouldn't believe it either, but he was dyno'd in front of me. i was impressed. and also...he kept extra blocks in his garage in case he blew one (which wasn't too uncommon, i understand).

Heh I just had to spend like $300 to get a new coil and Ignitor for my car. CAI and 8.5mm Spark Plug wires will be awhile down the road yet. OH yeah and don't forget to mention $450 for a new engine. Mind you I did buy the car which is a '93 civic 4dr for $1000. So putting another $1000 or 2000 into it won't really hurt that much.
