I'm pretty sure it would be almost the same as any other LS/VTEC.

My friend used his 91 LS and went LS/VTEC w/ a B16 head. No problem, after he got the correct distributor.

Im in the same dilema. I got a b18a block for a 100 bucks. So I decided to build a lsvtec for my 94 hatch and I have recieved so much mis guided answers to my questions I dont know what to do now.

Heres my main concern.....

My hatch has a hydro tranny now. The b18a was built with a cable. So I have been told to use a hydro tranny simply because the car was built with one. Then I was told not to use a hydro tranny on a b18a block since it was ment for a cable. So what the hell am I supposed to do?? personaly I think its all garbage because few on here have first hand experience with building a lsvtec. Yet at the same time its almost not worth testing there ignorence and having a s****y setup in my car. Andy and a handfull others on here know there sh**, try getting ahold of them.

thanks...i've noticed the same thing on www.superhonda.com forums and one of my friends recently told me to try to stay around honda-acrua.net...but i dont think it really matters where u do.....i dont see y u wouldnt go hydro with ur car....but wouldnt u have to get a b-series tranny....or do u already have a b-series in ur car from a previous swap??....i think hassport makes a kit to convert from hydro to cable or maybe the other way around....anyway let me know how it goes....i got a whole interga GS 1991 for free so thats y i want to do the LS/VTEC swap....the motor needs to be rebuilt so i'm taking it all apart anyway....good luck man

Well the reason I would'nt go with hydro in my car is because of the price. At my local shop(which is the only place ive found one so far) they charge 950 for a b16 hydro tranny. For 700-1000(depending on the distributor) I can get a b16a1 swap. So that covers my head and tranny for a grand. Then I buy the hasport mounts for 500. The hydro tranny I have now came with the d15 in my hatch and yes your right b and d dont match.

HASport makes hydro-cable conversion kits.

Hydo or cable is just the way the clutch pedal actuates the clutch. If your car started out hydro, it's a lot easier to stay hydro. Same way if it started out with a cable.

All the B-series transmissions regardless of cable or hydro will bolt up to all the B-series blocks. You can put an '01 GSR tranny on a '90 LS motor if you wanted to no problem, assuming it's going into a car that started out with a hydro tranny.

Quick guide:

'92-up Civic/del Sol, '94-up Integra, '97-'01 CR-V: hydro
'88-91 Civic/CRX, '90-'93 Integra: cable

You can convert a hydro car to work a cable without too much effort, but if you have a cable car stick with a cable tranny.

so what do you suggest then? Should I go for the complete b16a1 swap for 1000 and use the cable tranny and the head? Its bolting up to a b18a. I guess i should just cruise down to hasport and talk to those guys. But id like to hear your opinion
