Default vehicle speed sensor help

I did my engine swap and now my speed odometer won't work. Is it the sensor or did i do something wrong. All the wires seeem to be hooked up.there is power going to the wires but i haven't have time to check the sensor it self.

What year is your car? I broke my speedometer cable when I did my engine swap, I found a new one in a junk yard. If you have an electric speedometer, you can splice in a new sensor (the one that attaches to the transmission), but it's always *recommended* to let a Honda place do electrical work, at a substantial cost.

Its a 95 teg rs, I thought that the teg speed odometer was controlled electronically. If not where is this cable your talking about on the 95. I called ah motor for the vss and it cost $138.

Yea, your car is controlled electronically, and yea, it's gonna be 100+ to fix the sensor if that's the problem

are you getting a check engine light? cause if your VSS has failed you should get code 17.

yeap, i am getting a check engine light of 17. This really sucks because before i switch out the engine it was working fine. I had the car sit in the garage for about a month waiting for other parts to make my car run. When i finished and plugged in all the wires my first test drive i blow my radiator, my timing was off, had a o2sensor problem, and now my vss. Plus i don't know what would cause it to break. well, i guess i have to get a new one and hope that it fix it.

i haven't checked the wire harness that is coming out of the firewall coming out of the ecu but checked the engine bay wire harness up to the connectors. Those wires seem to have readings in them. Maybe my car got mad for sitting in the garage for too long. If you let a car sit too long it also tends to break also. Im gonna wait and see if my friends vss will work. I going to switch his with mine when he comes this july fourth. He has a extra one so i going to have and wait till then. I hopeing its just the vss and nothing else. Would the vtec system affect my vss also. cause the one in the car before didn't have it. The engine in it now has vtec but its not hooked up at the moment since it won't kick in without the speed.
