shouldnt make a diff..the only relation between vtec and vss is that the vtec looks for the right reading from the vss to engage.
i hope you figure it out...

I haven't switched out the vss with my friend but while i was driving my speed meter started to move up and down like crazy. It won't stay at a constant speed it would go from 20 mph to 50mph at the same rpm. After awhile it would die and stay at zero.

the fuse isn't dead because sometime when it gets hot the speed would kind of work. It will stay constat but when you downshift it will jump up and down, after that it just dies again. Would it have to do with me not putting the axle correctly in? If the axle isn't spinning the gears to the vss or something. My friend couldn't find his extra vss.

sounds almost like you have a broken sensor.... take it out and look at the gear on it.......

Doublecheck it with an electrical tester, or just pull the fuse and look at it. Don't assume that because you sometimes get a speedo reading, that the fuse is good. When my fuse was blown, my speedo would work on really hot days, or when I'd been driving around town for a while and the car was warmed up. Maybe the heat allowed the spark t jump the gap in the blown fuse, who knows, but I went through 3 batteries and 2 alternators before I realized it was the fuse.

I'd check grounds if it is doing something funny.
