Timing Belt - 1990 Legend
Hi. I'm new to this forum and these cars. I hope I'm in the right forum for this question. We bought a low mileage (35k) 1990 Legend L last summer. It now has about 40k on it and I am concerned about the timing belt. The local Acura dealer told me that this engine has an interfence belt and advised that we change it ASAP (along with the water pump) due to the age of the car. He said it would cost about $670. Any advice/opinions? BTW, this is a great car. Thank you in advance.
The legend normally has a V-6 in it, so that price sounds about right. If you're mechanically inclined and you have the necessary tools, you could do it yourself for about $50 give or take a bit. If not, it's not a bad idea to have the belt and water pump changed for the peace of mind viewpoint.
