Running Rich???
O me god!
This may be a pretty old thread but I thought I'd add to aut0tek's reply as he is missing something regarding "white smoke", otherwise spot on dude, glad you were here to sort this out for all future readers of this thread.
Before I do I'd just like to say this: The better you know how a car/engine works technically, the better driver you will be and the more control you will have over your car. Certainly someone without any "basic" knowledge should not be racing. This isn't to flame anyone who posted on this thread but to hopefully promote some real interest in getting the basics correct.
Blue smoke == Oil
White smoke == coolant OR TRANSMISSION FLUID
Black smoke == Running rich... and if it's smoking... it's not running a little rich... it's running pretty damn rich.
So how does transmission fluid get into your combustion chambers?
A pierced transmission diaphragm connected to your vacuum system will do it.
A car burning transmission fluid will leave the same white smoke trail as a hole-pierced P-51 streaming glycol.
Cheers
