Default My 92 Gsr Is Dead!!! *Cries*

Tonight my mom borrowed my car to run to the store to get something she wanted (i think it was chips, or some smokes).

Well she took the integra and we live in louisiana and in the area i live in we are under tornado WATCH for the next 8 hours...

Well she took the backside of our road because the front was flooded (1 1/2 foot of water) and continued up the road...

She seen that there was about 3 inches of water and just decided that the car could go through it and continued again ( i think this is the first mistake ) , now shes about 1 foot under freaking water and the car bogs down and stalls out she says. She tried to crank it but it wouldnt crank so she called me and i came and pushed it outa the water, IN MY DAM BOXERS!!!!. So once i get it out it will not crank so i wait about 10 minutes and i decide that im going to call a wrecker to come and get it and she says no it should be fine to drive home (2 mins away...). She gets in and it turns over and then starts making a LOUD (god do i mean loud) Clacking noise and i scream at her to turn it off at which point i call a wrecker. He comes and tries to crank it and i tell him DONT DO THAT because it will not run WTF! . So i get him to tow it home and i get it there and i look under her and shes got about 1/4 of a thing of oil sitting under her. I take out the spark plugs, drain the oil, and so she sits. The oil she drained had water in it (or may have dripped in it). Now my questions are these.

#1 - what could this clattering be?
#2 - can i fix this on my own?
#3 - u think it bent a rod? (hopes not!!!!!)

Help Would Be Appreicated Please

rodsiey goes snappy. sorry to hear man. Doesn't mean you can't fix it on your own (hopefully). Try to get insuranace to pay for it. Many insurance places pay for acts of God and stuff like that. My buddy got a new motor from insurance because he sucked some water up. You could also say something like: I've looked into it and it'd cost this much to rebuild the motor (insert rediciously big sum here), but I've also found that this engine (B16) will work just as good, and can be found redily for under $1000.

sounds like hidro lock in which case the piston gets siezed in them cylinder while the crank keeps rotating causing the rod to snap and then fly through the cylinder walls(oil puddle) and the snapped rod would give you the clanky noise. I have seen 2 gsr's in the last year do the same thing. 9 out of 10 times that is what happened> sorry to hear man.. Damn woman. you would think they would know better. get your mom a hummer if she wants to drive through 3 feet of water in a tornado.lol

sorry to hear though, let me know whats going on with the engine because I wouldn't mind taking some parts from ya for some cash.

I will pray but the only thing that really explains the oil is a cracked block. check all around the oil pan because if the block is cracked you will notice right away..

good luck!!

Ok, i took out the plugs. Flushed the whole motor of oil and then refilled with oil without plugs in to try and check if the pistons are moving.

Low and behold....
(from passenger to driver side...)
1st one --- NOTHING didnt budge!
2nd one --- moves up and down fine
3rd one --- moves up and down fine
4th one --- moves up and down fine

I'm pretty sure it bent a rod.
Anyone else wanna give it a shot?

In the thread in the Integra forum I for some reason thought this was a '98 GS. Can't imagine why...

Anyway, I would try and get your hands on a B18C1 shortblock. Pull your motor, swap the shortblocks, put it back in. Now you've got 0.1 liters more displacement (wow!) and a bottom end that will take the same sort of RPM as your dead one.

NO!
Like i said earlier in the post, and will say again. It is not getting "parted out" it is going to get "fixed". Sorry to disappoint your friends but i think that i can fix it for less than the money i will make from parting it out or selling it.

Shouldnt be hard to fix i got about 3 motor shops looking for that b17a block/internals for me.

Sorry...
NOT PARTING OUT
