SKUNK2 chip questions
would the skunk2 ECU chip for a 92-95 work with a 00 d16y8 ECU? is it just plug and play or do i have to solder it?

No it will not work with your 00 ecu, you'd need to get a 92-95 SOHC OBDI ecu. The chip sizes are different. It would not just be plug and play, you'd have to solder the chip to the board, or solder in a socket and plug the chip in. Socketing is preferred, so you can just take out the chip and pop in another whenever you want. You also better be sure your car is built for that high of a redline if you want to take it there. With a stock car, you shouldn't go past the stock redline.

No, it'll only work in a 92-95 P28 ECM. Even if you had a P28, it still wouldn't be plug and play, since you would need to desolder the original chip and solder the new one in. You would also need an OBD-IIb>OBD-I adapter. Also, just running some "performance" Skunk ROM won't necessarily yield a power gain for your particular application.

Three reasons why I am not a nitrous fan:
1. It's not always on.
2. You have to refill the bottle.
3. The bottle can't be in the car for any sort of sanctioned autocross or road racing event.
Anyway back to the chip.
Even if it would work in your car (which it doesn't) it won't give you any more power. This is the general rule when dealing with generic chips. People will tell you they got it and it made their car faster but they are wrong. The chip, at best, quickens up the throttle response which is why people say that it feels faster.

2. Who cares? When you're done spanking someone and taking their money, go refill it on his dime.
3. If you autocross you'll need more torque than that d-series of his... May I suggest a bottle of nitrous?

I have the Skunk2 chip... And it's sloppy rich after 4000 rpms. :-/
VTEC at 4800 doesn't kick very hard either... just noise.
