Default Motor Builders! Your opinions please?

Here is the deal. Im new to this whole honda scene... But Im not scared to wrench on a motor, I have delt with plenty of engenes... Mostly V8's and some V6's and I have worked on a couple of straight6's.

As most of you know, I have purchased a 90dx hatch. I put a D16A6 in it My frend had cause he swaped a B16A into his 91CRX-SI. I want a mount everest of powerer under the hood, I want enough to smoke corvet's and leave 2003 svt mustang cobra's in the 80's What do you think is best to do?

Here are my options as I see them:

1. Swap a JDM B16A sir1
2. take the beater old D16A6 and slap a Sohc Vtec head on it.
3. Rebuild the D16A6 (no Vtec)

Ok there are my options as I see them.... Any one of these options would get a turbo/sc+nos That is what I am thinkin... I gave up on N/A because I was not impresed with the WHP I was lookin at. I would love to hear your oppinions
Also how difficult is it to do a TURBO+SC? Any one know how reliable this would be?

wow you have high goals. i personally would go for a B18c. but if you go with the B16 your definally gonna have to force feed it to go that fast.

a twin charge setup is quite complicated and there is more to it then just slapping the parts on and going.. you would also still be limited in power..it would more of a ooo ahh thing.. now if you serious your gona need to ditch all those power plants.

in my opinion you should either build a decent b20 vtec.. 12:1 compression, ctr cams, b16 head with itr intake manifold and 64mm tbody. this simple build could cost about 4k-4500 for everyhting.. eagle rods, je pistons.. i can bet this would put down about 200-210 with out revving the pis out of it..maybe 8500 tops.. or you go just go ahead and do a straight up b18 or even b20 and boost it generously with hondata or a zdyne ecu and pump a decent amount of power... i have had experiance with the b16 in a 92 dx, h22a in a 97ek hatch, built b20 setup as mentioned above in a 92cx minus the itr intake manifold and tbody and it ran 13.00 at 103 with 186 whp on pump gas.

Hmmm! I know were to get 98octane fuel areound here! I also have access to ----->120 180 and 220 <----- Jet fuel.... I have often wondered about using the 120... This all airoplane fuel with the exception of the 98 octane and the 220 which is jet fuel. Also how huch would it cost for a built ass B18(a)(b)? whitch one was it honda made obd0? I think it was the B18B.... Anyway I want a motor that is OBD0.... Anyone know of any RELIABLE shops in the east bay that do motor swaps?

higher octane will do nothing for you..its only used to keep the vehicle from detonating... why keep with a motor that was obd0? the ecu is the only thing that controls that..not that motor... so it doesnt really matter what motor you use..ecu is what makes it obd0-1 or 2... and its the b18a.

Well.. I heard somewere that vtec is no good for fi? May be bullsh*t I dont know, thats why I asked... Also ECU's arent the only thing that you have to change in an OBD0 car... If I went OBD2 for instance I would need a sensor in my gas tank... And A bunch of other crap... At least thats what my teacher said I would have to do to make it lagit.

What do you guys think of this IDEA? Put 4 SMALL individual centrifugical superchargers on, one on each intake of something like a TWM throdlebody -the throdle flaps (you get the idea) and 4 turbines with the blades facing backwards (one on each exaust port) to suck exaust out of the motor... Each compresor would be linked together by a shaft which goes to the timing gears (same with the turbines) Then set up the motor so it runs in constant VTEC because the exaust is being sucked out so fast.... Just a thought I had...

vtec isn't good for boost cause it has a lot of overlap (intake and exhaust valves open at the same time). it's not ideal for turbo, but it's not that big of a deal either. all the real fast cars at the drag strip are using vtec motors, and i'm pretty sure they are all enabled.

as for the 4 small chargers i don't think it's a good idea right off the bat, plus you'll have 4 things which the motor has to turn, even thought they are small the motor still has to power 'em.

i'm not a fan of superchargers for honda's mainly cause we don't have the low end grunt to have a blower got with turbo it's mroe efficient for us honda's.
