Default h22a civic swap??

some some q's for you guys on the know how!! i got a 97 civic ex and i'm thinkin' hard about gettin' an h22a and havin' this local shop install it for me! so here is the q's

1. I got OBD II is there an h22a w/ OBD II?

2. If so, what year?

3. If not, then how hard and what would i need to do to make this swap work?

4. Is the h22a type s worth the extra money??

from what i gather the h22a has 200hp and the h22a type s has 220hp.

much thanx

and if any body has any info on putin' the new RSX Type R K20a into my year model civic it would be much welcomed!!

Every car from 1996 on up came with OBD-II. Honda continued to sell the Prelude after 1996.

If you want the swap to be fully legal (in any state, not just CA) you have to use a USDM motor from the same model year or newer as your car.

There's a guy with an H22 in his 5th gen hatch in the hybrid forum if you want to pick his brain. I hope you have a lot of cash if your backup plan is a K-series swap.... sounds a little extreme to me.

I would think that your $$$ could be spent else where to make up the 20hp difference.

Check your pm.

You'll need a mount kit for the H22. Either HCP or HASport. Both are about $500.

Tone it down, it takes a lot to impress people around here, and acting like you don't need feedback because you have money doesn't help, if you didn't need help, you wouldn't ask.

The K-series engines have competely different dimensions and mount locations, on top of that, they rotate opposite of previous generation Hondas, which means the transmission is on the opposite end. So, unless you plan on chopping the front end and re-making it [which doesn't exactly make it a swap anymore, it would be a conversion, in which case you won't get any originality points, just "spent lotsa $$" looks]....

As for the H22, it's a pig compared to B-series engines, so if handling is your concern, you may re-consider. If not, you could bolt one in with a mount kit and have a full 2.2 L to play around with.

What, exactly, are your goals?

What are you talking about man? Don't try and do something to your car for the goddamned show points, do it because it makes you faster! Geez.

Hate to do it, but I'll quote the Lord Almighty of the Ricers, Dom Toretto: "Winning's winning!"
