ok..with these upgrades..how high can you rev. a stock bottom end on a B16a3...
Skunk2 titanium retainers,
Skunk2 Race valve springs
Skunk2 adj cam gears
Spoon race cams
Magnecor 8.5mm wires
Itr tranny
Mugen 2ply head gasket
UR crank pulley
Apex-i Vafc
the reson i ask this is becuase he may get a chip for his ECU that has a 9700rpm redline and wasnt sure if it would be saft to go that high on a stock bottom end

I'd think it would definately be okay to 9,000. I wouldn't push it above 9,500 without at least some ARP rod bolts, but Roger Foo was revving his stock bottom end to 10,000.

Better know your tuning is good, though.

That for sure makes a diff, ARP means strong bolts. I'd still be weary of 10,000 rpm though. Its not a street bike. Splurge and get some forged rods or a girdle or something...

better safe than sorry, thats a pretty expensive top end.

I'd also get me a Crane or MSD Ignition system, it might not make you rev higher but it'll help with the amount of spark.

Your rods are going to be the weak link, that is what is going to give if you rev it past i would say 8500. Thing i would suggest is to strap it to a dyno and see where the horsepower starts to drop off you may don't get anymore HP after 8500 so what is the reason to rev to 9 or 10 k.

I have a very similar setup on an b16a2 but mine is crower, and I wind it up to about 9500rpm daily on a stock bottom end.

accordhybrid- Ummmm, the b16a has a very good bottom end. It comes from the factory pretty well balanced and is the only production engine that I can think of that has a near perfect rod-stroke ratio. Perfect R/S ratio is 1.75:1 and the b16a is a 1.74:1 so you see in stock form the bottom end is capable of around 9000 rpms safely IMO. Anything over that and I would have to agree that the rods will need at the least a bolt upgrade.

umm...the cams that are in it are "good up to 9000 rpms" according to Spoon....i dont know why you would think they are only good to 8500..maybe you didnt read all the mods or something..but when going down the road at 8500rpms..there is no drop off at any point...it just wants to keep rev'ing...a dyno run would be great for tuning..but thats not what this thread is about..

The rods aren't the weak link, it's the rod bolts. Under the stress of 9500 rpms and above they tend to stretch out, that is not good.
