Default oil pressure problem on a b16a

i got a code 22

i checked my wiring , pulled the vtec assembly, cleaned it and reinstalled. it was still throwing the code.

i haven't put together a oil pressure gauge yet to check the pressure.

i'm thinking i'll replace the sending unit, next.

i was just wondering if anyone has had the same problem and if anyone has any suggestions.

Get a helms and properly diagnose it, rather than replacing random parts until its fixed. You'll surely save money this way. I.E. Check for oil pressure, Use a volt meter to check the sending unit, etc.

that kinda doesn't help
the first thing i did was break out the troubleshooting flow charts and a multimeter, however without one of those stupid PGM-FI test harness' it kinda hard to shoot wires
the flow charts only help so much
i need to know it anyone had similar problems IE: blocked pickups, clogged passageways, nonworking pressure regulator, oil pump, what ever

Theres not many things that could obstruct the passages to the point where you'll throw that code, it would spin a bearing quick. And a sure sign of this being the case - you'll here knocking and the engine won't run for more than a few minutes before you deprive a bearing of oil.

Does it run without knocking and clanking?
Can you verify the car does in fact have oil pressure?
Did you check for continuity at the pressure sensor & wires, like the helms states?

If it runs ok, I am willing to bet on the pressure sending unit or wiring. Good luck.

BTW: i fixed the problem. the problem was a corroded ground wire, for the vtec oil pressure sensor. it looked fine untill i pulled it off and the connector fell off.
so thanks for all the help.
