Default Legend Head/Block/Valve Cleaning

Hey guys. I just purchased my first Legend yesterday. Its a 91, bought it for $500. Great body, 130k, 4dr... Downside is its the base model (no leather or moonroof) and it has the tipical blown head gasket. Ive decided i want to do the HG job but wanted some suggestions about cleaning and polishing the mateing surfaces of the block and heads and the valve areas before i put it all back together. I know i could send the heads out to have professionally done but i dont plan on keeping the car longterm after i do the job just because its not the exact legend i want. This is going to be the "learning" car. Throw me your suggestions/experence

Welcome to HAN.

Unless you have a lathe in your garage (which I highly doubt), I would let a machine shop resurface those heads for you. They will hot tank them and clean them up for you while they are at it. It would be a pity to have both of the heads bolted back on after several hours of labor to find they are leaking worse than before because you wanted to save a few bucks.
