Default considering boost...your thoughts?

so i've been a NA fanboy for the longest. but lately have been thinking that with the amount of money i'd spend building a kickass NA motor i could could build a killer boosted motor. h:

so here's what im planning on doing...

stock b18c1
peakboost top mount kit upgrading to the GT35R and bigger intercooler if needed
skunk2 intake manifold
itr cams and valvetrain
3'' exhaust
hondata s300 or neptune RTP whenever it's released
rc 550cc injectors
walbro 255lb fuel pump

i'd run it like this till additional funds start flowing in when i would really start building the motor.

sleeved and bored to 84mm
ls 89mm crank
manley or pauter rods
cp 9:1 pistons
ported head
bigger injectors
clutch (not sure what would hold the power)
quaife lsd
etc etc etc

hp goals are 300whp for daily driving with quick spool and 500+whp on race tune. looking for 11-12sec et's in a full weight ej. possible with the turbo i picked? do i need a smaller or bigger one? feel free to throw out your suggestions. good, bad, whatever. this would be an ongoing project so im in no hurry.

that's one of the things i need suggestions on. the standard front mount in the peakboost kit is 24x6.3.5. i was thinking of upgrading to the 24x8x3.5 or bigger

I'd definitely recommend bigger injectors than 550's. I was at 457 on 660's. I HAD to upgrade from the 550's once I got to about 400 whp and I was at 9.5:1 CR.

I was using the Greddy Type24 FMIC on my Garrett T3/T04E 57 trim .60 A/R.

The ACT XTR6 I was running was tough for daily driving, but definitely held the hp (torque actually).

Be sure to get the Walbro 255 HP FP. Not the LP.

Any thoughts on upgraded axles? I used OEM replacements from NAPA, which worked well as long as you preload them off the line. I snapped a few dropping the clutch before I knew about preloading. I also didn't have LSD and only ran drag radials, never slicks.

I'd also recommend a FPR (not the B&M modifier) so that you can change your static pressure if needed.

Don't use the skunk2 manifold either. Go with JG or FullRace. The runners on these are shorter and fatter. They allow for much better flow.

I'd also recommend some ITR cams and adjustable gears. I gained 9whp just off of adjusting the intake cam. The ITR cams were also a really great upgrade from the GSR's with boost.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

good stuff.

i was only planning on running the 550's on the stock engine with 10-12 psi until the engine was built. is this not a good idea?

what size is the type24?

for the clutch i was thinking of either an act xtss or action 1md

i figure i'll just stick with the stock axles. my brother works at napa so he can get me replacements whenever ftw

the full race manifold is pretty expensive. if not the skunk2 then definitely the victor x will be used

yea itr cams are a given. maybe upgrade to omni or supertech valvetrain for piece of mind. did you use the 00-01 spec itr's or older versions?

280mm x 600mm x 76mm

11 x 23.6 x 3

Cams: I think I used 97 JDM ITR's.
Valvetrain: I was on Supertech titanium retainers and Rocket Motorsports gen1 springs

I destroyed my XTSS pretty quickly. Ended up screwing up the friction ring on the flywheel too because it wore to the rivets. It'll work, but just watch it and its wear.

I've been told that 660's are the last injector size that's 'easy' to idle. After that the idle suffers. Injectors aren't the cheapest thing so, it's up to you, but you might want to just get what you'll need instead of getting some now and then some others later to fit your requirements.
