Like to Say what's up to everyone. I'm a Noobie but i really enjoy reading the posts on this site. I have a 95 civic EX i believe it has a 1.6L Vtec in it now. I'm looking to do an engine swap, i've notice everyone refers to their engines by B16a, etc etc. Some type of foreign language that i don't understand. I've looked on the engine block for a number and i see nothing resembling these #'s.
So my question is; What type of engine is in my car? I know it's the SOHC, VTEC, pretty sure it's the 1.6 L.
And also What would be a fairly simple but effective engine swap, approx price, and anything else u could think of that could help me on my project.

you have a d16z6. simple and effective swap would be a b16. spend a little more and go with a b18c1 though. you can typically find one for ~$3000. i have one in my 95 ex and love it.

 

so i have a d16z6 engine and u recommend a b16 or b18 engine
here are a couple engines i've found on www.hmotorsonline.com
which if either would be a good choice. i'm pretty much looking for a direct swap don't want' anything too involved

of those two, i'd get the complete change over. but i still suggest you get a b18c1.

what are the major advantages of doing this swap over the B16a? Labor wise are they about the same or would one be easier than the other, and is the performance of the B18c worth the extra money?

Look at the power numbers and you can see the difference. The Torque is higher in the gsr motors and the compression ratio is slightly higher, Larger stroke 1.8 vs. 1.6

 

labor wise they'd be the same to put in. but the extra power and torque from the b18c1 will be well worth it.
