Default Ignition Components

Hey,
I got a problem with my tach jumping around, and I've been told it's probably because the stock coil cannot hold up to the abuse of the turbo motor (See my thread in this forum). (Anyone else have a prob like this?)
My question is about external ignition coils.
Do you have to buy an entire kit or what? I see ext coils for sale along with ALL kinds of other ignition stuff that I don't need.
Can someone tell me what is the cheapest/best option for replacing my stock (inside the distributor) ignition coil. Someone suggested an accel, stock fit inside distributor high-performance coil from autozone, but they no longer carry the item, so is there any other high-performance options like this??
Would I just need to get an external coil and a dist. cap that has an external coil plug or do I need one of those expensive ignition boxes.
I have uberdata so I don't need all of those features, I just want to use an external coil to boost my voltage going to the plugs, to fix my misfiring ubder boost.
Thanks,

basically take the cap, rotor off then remove the coil inside the distributor housing. Then drill through the existing coil wire connector and run the new coil extension wire up through that hole to the spot where the old coil was. Then its easy just mound the external coil wherever you want. Honda stock coils are extremely weak when you try to add power to the cars. Just by changing out from a stock- to- a - performance coil can tripple your voltage output. Since Hondas distributors are most of the time internal coils, in conjunction with the distributor they didn't have enough room to give Honda owners enough power because the "performance size" coils are much too big. Hope that helps goodluck

hey,
Thanks for the post, but I figured out what was causing my problem, it was a godamned loose ground, LOL...
After I had spent $$200 on new cap, rotor, etc...
So, it works good now, with the stock coil, but thanks for the update...
