What is needed for LS/VTEC?

I have an LS vtec with the LS tranny. The gears are definitely a little too long. Good for highway commuting though. I am going to swap in a Type R w/LSD when the LS tranny starts showing signs of trouble, or I just get sick of the one tire fire...
