It all depends on what you think is the best method of engine break in. I suggest you read a little on engine breaking in techniques since there can be multiple approaches to it. Some say run it hard, some say baby it, so you need to decide what is best for you.

Exactly what he said.....With that said, my car will take a few short trips around the block And to the muffler shop, then it's off to the dyno for some extensive tuning........

it depends on what you built it with

if you went with new sleves and forged internals i'd say drive the piss out of it as theres really nothing left to expand

:edit:

i am not responsible for you blowing the engine for taking my advice. but it is in my general knowledge that forged interals do not expand under heat as much as others. and i believe this is the only thing you really need to let break in on most current engines (let the pistons and other internals expand as they will, not excessively fast due to high speeds and heat too early in their lifespan)

i highly reccomend searching for confirmatino of this online, but i just want to introduce you tot this topic i saw somewhere (i believe i read it twice, once somewhere i dont remember the second being an attack on the guy saying you need to kick the shit out of a brand new car to break it in correctly)

I'd probably baby it for the first 500-600 miles at the least.
