Default 11.5:1 Daily Driver?

I'm sure similar questions have been asked but I searched and didn't find.

if I have 11.5:1 compression JE pistons, eagle rods, b16a head with itr springs/retainers, is that daily driveable on 93 octane?

Thanks,

Harry

Yes. You may have a little bit of piston noise with the JEs though, just a warning.

Forged pistons tend to just be noisy. There's no detonation going on, it just sounds like a bit of a clatter. Sometimes the noise will fool the knock sensor so if you're running an ECU which uses a knock sensor (I don't know what car/motor this is for) you may want to disable the sensor.

why do you need forged internals if your sleeves are still stock, why not use honda parts. I am curious as to what you are trying to accomplish with going to that rod/piston combination.

Mike: Honda parts won't yield 11.5:1 in a b18a1 engine unless u mill the head.
And also... Just cuz the sleeves are stock doesn't mean I can't put good pistons and rods in. My block guard should help out some... not much... but some.

B16a head, LS block/89mm stroke, JDM B18C Pr3 piston = 11.3:1
on c-speed's com calculator and 11.6:1 with a two layer gasket.

unless this page isnt reliable, I would say it is possible. if you had a GSR head, you could see 11.57:1 on stock HG =)

u may get clatter on cold starts. when the engine heats up the pistons expand and the clater should stop.
