Umm... if you mean to get to 250hp a/m then you would need higher not lower compression pistons, but that would be just plain stupid because squeezing that much power out of D16Z6 is pretty damn hard, the stock compression is great for turboing (only like 9:1 if i remember right), but you would want to get forged pistons at the same compression, and forged rods etc, block guard... blah blah blah...

If you want to turbo, thats your best option, but personally, I'd go for an engine swap, either a B18C if you can afford it, or a B18B. And then work from there. I have a D16Z6... and that's what i plan to do.

I totally disagree. 250whp is not THAT hard to squeeze out of a D16z6 single cam, and its certainly not stupid. ive personally seen hp in the 3,4, and even 500 hp range with a D16 sohc-T. The z6 is a lot of fun to turbocharge and you will not be disappointed if it's done right. With a T3 and fully built head and block, with good tuning on uberdata, hondata, crome, etc. you will see some nice street numbers. For the cost of building up the Z6 and turbo charging it, is just about the same price as buying a stock B18c motor. THAT is a waste of money IMO. If you were going for an all motor beast, then that is the best platform to start off from, but with turbo D is better! A b/g is not necessary for 250 but cant hurt, along with good sleeving, piston/rod combo and head work. Crower springs, retainers, valves, along with either a zex cam or Crower cam, and a port/polish job, my friend you will be seeing some nice hp to the wheels. Good luck and stick with the D!

Im been doing a lot of research on the honda motors. I was also thinking of a motor swap such as a b18c1 or h22a into my 95 civic ex, but for the cost of one of those motors you can build a much better turbo d16. First of all in a motor swap your looking at some where between 175-200 crank hp and 125-145 tq. Where as in a stock d16 with turbo you can get 175-200 whp and 175-200 wtq when tuned right. The torque is whats going to move the car through the rpm range faster to get you to your max hp. Built d16z6 motors like 1995 civic said can push 400whp. See www.turbod16.com if you dont believe me.

I would have to agree to go turbo instead of swap. I am.
