Default Rebuilding: take a look at this combo...

My B16 decided to throw a the #1 rod out the back of my block on the highway last week so I'm putting together a budget rebuild. I picked a '00 B16A2 shortblock with 78,000 miles on it for $250. My head was fine but I'm going to send it out to be milled .025 so I can get the CR to a hair under 11:1. I'm considering a cam upgrade but I don't want to go through the time and expense of upgrading the valvetrain ect. A friend offered me a set of GS-R cams for dirt cheap, I could sell my stock SI cams and make the money back for a free upgrade. I just don't know anyone that runs a B16 with GS-R cams so I'm looking around to see if anyone else is running a similar setup so I can get some idea of what to expect. I'll probably either get a VAFC or Neptune within the next couple months to get it all tuned. For now I just want to get my only transportation running again.

Following cam measured with 0mm of lift:
Civic Si(1999 Spec)
Int-265 dur. / 10.5mm lift
Exh-267 dur. / 9.6mm lift

Integra GS-R
Int-274 dur. / 10.7mm lift
Exh-276 dur. / 9.6mm lift

I need a new header too (I sold traded my other 2), LMK if anyone has one that they'll let go for cheap looking for 2.5" collector but I'll settle for anything decent.

Sorry to hear that. Any reasons why the engine threw a rod?

The GSR cams would be an upgrade from the B16 cams, so it would be worthwhile if you can get them cheap. ITR/CTR cams will be even better if you can get a good deal.

Good luck with the build.
