CTR Rods (Are they worth it)
Well first my first engine i just want to build a nice street engine:
-CTR Pistons
-CTR Cams
-Mugen Headgasket
-Type R Valvetrain
-Maybe a Type R Head
Pretty much i'm just building a poorman's Type R. I wanna Rev the shit out of this thing. That why I want the B16 just becasue of the R/S ratio. My friends tell me to get a GSR but there to much. Well anyway I just want to know what some of the experts think. Just becasue I build an OEM street machine for reliability. So please give me some input.

Even if they fit they wouldn't be worth it. If you can get the cash definately go with a B18C. I just threw a rod in my Si but B16A longblocks are just too damn cheap to pass up these days. Either way, just throw some CTR cams in it grab some cam gears, bump your CR with a thinner HG or by milling the head (I'm doing mine .025 should be close to 11:1 with some GS-R cams this time around). The Type R valvetrain isn't a bad idea either.
I don't think he's asking about CTR rods, he's just saying the Rod/Strke ratio is slightly better in the B16A for High-Rpm operation, which is correct. The pistons help, but the main thing you need to Rev really high is an ITR head, or more specifically a more durable valvetrain to handle the extra stress at high rpm. U should get ITR cams, get ITR or aftermarket intake & exhaust valve springs, and ITR or aftermarket valve spring retainers. Then u should be able to rev to 9000+ rpms. Also, the stock B-series blocks are very durable for High-rpm, especially the ones designedfor it, ie. ITR-B18C5, B16A, B17A, B18C1, so the R/S ratio is important but I think it's very close between GSR and B16A, so it's a matter of cost then, and the B16A wins everytime.

Really not much point in going passes 8500 on Type R cams. Any VTEC B-Series bottom end can handle that all day every day.
It won't make power past 8500 rpms with ITR cams anyway, so revving any further will just make more noise and put extra wear and tear on the engine.
