Where to buy QUALITY motors?
Well i got lucky and picked up a 2001 GSR swap out of a car this girl wrecked. Just had to trade them swaps, they got my 94 B18C still in the crate and i got their 2001 B18C1... seems fair to me :-D
It's not that JDM engines are swapped every 35000 miles, but most imports will tell you that's how long a Civic or Integra will last in Japan. Aside from simply not driving very far (Japan is an island after all), there is also a very strict inspection that happens every 2 years for all cars in Japan. They either pass or they must be repaired and I believe only with OE parts. They are very through and check everything, bushings, brake lines, gaksets ... It is usually cheaper to simply replace a 3-4 year old 35,000 miles car than it is to get it back up to spec. Look through a magazine when they do coverage on JDM cars. Most of them show cars in lots for very cheap. Nissan S15 Silvia for $15k, JDM ITR's for $8k (remeber, they're made there and sold there, no importing costs, no tariff's ...). It's not nessicarly true that a JDM engine you buy will only have 35,000 miles, but most importers go through quality contacts in Japan and they only send over the higher quality engines, but sometimes you can get burned, so be careful. Seeya.
