Default Please Help.

I have a 97 Civic EX that is stock and needs some hooking up. I am interested in performance issues and have no idea where to start.

Any help would be huge.

Thanks

Default My budget and goal.

My budget is probable at $2000 to $3000 over a span of a few months. What I really want to accomplish with my car, I want it to be fun to drive. I would like it to perform on top of it's game all the time. I am not interested in dragging or shows. I am interested in my Civic performing at it's peak day in and day out.

For that price range you should be able to get an engine swap and a pretty decent suspension. Wouldn't be the fastest thing on the road, or the best handling, but it would definately be fun.

Yeah that's about my budget too. I'm getting a 1st gen b16 for 1400 and driving 4 hours to pick it up to save on shipping .

Then I've got someone doing the swap for 350.

The rest is going towards kyb agx and ground control coilovers or eibach springs.

Default Where should I start.

What should be a priority? I want the most bang for my buck.

What change could I make that will add the most to my performance?

That depends on your definition of performance, if you're talking about acceleration, the engine swap will get you that, if you're talking about cornering prowess and handling, I'd start with suspension and brakes.

Default Let's start with the Brakes and Suspension.

How can I hook up my brakes? I want quality but money is a concern.

What about suspension? The same applies.

I'm not real sure about the 6th gen stuff, I think you can still switch over to teg brakes, which would be the cheapest way to bigger brakes, and for suspension, a GC kit with eibach springs should set you up pretty well, but if you want any symbolence of a smooth ride, get a fixed drop kit, the threaded body kits tend to have harsh spring rates and be under-damped.
