Default Fast&Furious!What is granny shifting?

I know the movie is old but i have it on dvd. After Vin Diesal wins the race he tells Spilner basically that he didn't know how to drive. Personally i have an automatic (Legend LS) so i have never experienced racing with a stick. So what is double clutching and what type of driving would make him appear to be driving like an old lady. For all you turbos out there: Is there a certain or different way to race with a turbo or nos. I would love everyone's tips and expert driving advise.

My first tip would be to totally ignore that movie and any shred of 'technical' advice it seems to give.

Firstly, double clutching is not something you do while drag racing.

Granny shifting is shifting slowly and/or not shifting at redline.

granny shifting is exactly what it says. shifting like a granny. which means you slow at clutching and you lose power between gears and such. that movie is ghey anyways

Actually i wanted to post a question through the " TRACK & AUTOCROSS TECH(NIQUE)" but since someone started a similar question here i might as well just continue to post it here

My question is in what kind of situation does driver need to step on the brake and the accelerator at the same time ? ? i think it should have a name for this action like the "Granny shifting" etc. but i don't know what its called sOrRy I came across some racing clips where it shows those racer actually step on the brake, crutch in and then heel on the accelerator for a few times . . . I don't quite understand what issit for Can someone please tell me what issit all actually about ? ? ? Why they gotto do that ? ? and how and under wad circumstances they do that ? ? ?

ThaNkzZ and sorry for the ignorance question :naughty:

That's called heel-toe downshifting or rev-matching, depending on who you talk to.

Two things: first, you don't know what you're talking about as far as my response goes. Rev-matching is a very realistic skill in road-course track driving, and VtecA's post was not in reference to "the slow and ill-tempered", second, this is not an e-tech topic, and is now closed.
