What you're saying in this statement is that everyone in the world with a stock VTEC engine that does not have this magic light wired to their car can't use VTEC. Think about it man... why would you have to hook some little light up in order for VTEC to work? :eek3:

You are thinking of a RPM switch like the one from MSD. i have heard of people using their ADj shift light as their vtec activator but that requires modifing the light and it is very ghetto.

wow, yea you should have just bought the rpm activated switch from summitracing.com. there about 45 dollers, which is less than the shift light and you dont have to have a hugh yellow light light up every time vtec is activated. i cant help you on the light because i used the rpm activated switch, which by the way is the cheapest, but defidently not the best way to activate vtec. the best way obviously is a vtec controler of some kind. i would return the light and go to summit racing and buy the switch and research on how to hook it up. you will also need a auto relay because the switch sends out a negative signal to activate whatever is being activated, in our case vtec, and that is obviously a problem because vtec needs at least a 12 volt power supply to turn on.
you may or may not be wondering about the vtec oil presure switch on the soleniod. it is not used with the rpm activated switch which is the main reason that the rpm activated switch is not the best way to activate vtec, it dosent sence the engines oil presure therefore it turns on regardless of the engine conditions which isnt good.

actually, you can use the shift light to control the VTEC.
Disconnect the VTEC Solenoid... and wire it into the positive from the light, and ground the other end..
use a voltmeter to do this, becuz chances are your light probly puts out about 6 volts, which means your VTEC wont turn on.
Set your Tach to turn on at 100rpms blah blah, do whatever, just get your light on... then use your voltmeter to find the 12 volt wire that is only on when the light is on... must be 12 volts!!
then unhook your light, and use the ONE lead to go to the VTEC Solenoid, and DONT KEEP it connected, you dont want 12 volts going back into your ECU.
Then ground the other lightbulb lead...
then it will turn on where-ever your light is set to...
but its still ghetto.. like mentioned^
my VTEC light looks clean inside the car.. but looks ghetto witha wire running to the Solenoid.

id put a relay on it just incase the vtec valve is a bit much for the cuircuit thats only designed to turn a small bulb on, altho i wouldnt bother with any of it, theres only any point moving the vtec point if you have changed the cams, honda didnt make it come in at 5500rpm for the sake of it
