my civic has a been detonating when accelerating fast under a load it has a digital ignition system, 9.8 mm wires, and a short ram intake do you think the intake could be the problem. it also gasps desperately for air anytime I stomp the pedal. the intake has been on the car for 6 to 8 months don't really remeber but I also just added aem tru-power pulleys and cam gear do you think the timing could be off It was on when I installed but I haven't gotten a chance to do it since it started poping. the bolts were torqued to spec 15 ft/lbs after adjusted. it wouldn't really hurt my feelings if it blew up but I haven't lined up a replacement and it's an automatic so I don't know if I would want to any way but I also still owe alot on it, it's only a 98.

 

Is your ignition timing advanced? If so are you using higher octane gas to supplement it? Check your timing.
