Default I think i have a great idea??

ok, my buddy just sold me a b18b for 150 with out the head and tranny. So now I want a b16 head and tranny for it. Ive had a hard time locating the tranny, and i havent really found to many hot deals on the head. so heres my idea.

this same guy will sell me a complete b16a sir 1 for 700. I was thinkin just buy the whole swap get the head and tranny for 700 bucks and then sell whats left over. sound good?

now my only concern is that i want a hydro tranny and a b16a3 head for the 4v per cylinder. So i just struck out on both needs. I want to know what you guys have to say. suggestions please.

What car do you have? All B-seres engines have 4v per cylinder (at least all the modern, common swapped one's do). I would recommend you don't try to low-ball an engine together. If you want it to be reliable and not a constant headache, spend a little now and buy a complete engine. If you have an EG or EK civic, buy at least a B16A3 (second gen B16A from Japan) and use that. It will cost around $2500, but everything will be there, ECU, tranny ... save you a lot of heaches. If you really want to build the thing yourself, your just going to have to hunt for the parts you want. I would recommend thepartstrader.com, good deals on there. Seeya.

damn i thought you were gone andy. Well i would'nt call it low balling. I just did'nt want to buy a complete motor when im just going to rip it apart and rebuild it. right?? why buy a complete swap when the only parts i would use is the block and crank? doesnt make sense to me, maybe you?

anyways i got a b16a3 head for 300 bucks this weekend so Im EXTREMLY stoked about that.

Yeah, I was gone for a while, I'm probably going to start a post about it later (expect that to be very very long). Anyway, your going to use a lot more of a swap than just the block and crank, you'll also need a tranny, ECU, the rest of the internals (oil pump, bearings, rings, girdle ...), shift linkage, axle's, intake manifold, throttlebody, sensors, wiring harness ... None are really expensive, but they can all add up, cost a lot to ship and make it more economical to just buy a complete swap and upgrade it or even drive as is (if you bought a B18C1). If your willing to put the time and money into parting the thing together, you can probably do it, but I'd rather just avoid the entire headache and just buy a complete swap to build off of. Just my opinion. Seeya.

i have a b18c1 in my daily driver. im building an all go hatch with this. I think the lsvtec is a badass setup and wish i did that instead of the gsr. But I have all the time in the world to build this motor. Plus my buddy owns the local import shop here so I get everything at cost w/o shipping charges. and no I wont use the IM or TB or harness. cant use a ls harness for a lsvtec. plus i got the rings, bearings, girdle and oil pump with my block for 150.

If you've got time and access to another car/engine while you build this one, hell, part it together probably will be the best choice. Most people don't have that option. Anyway, good luck building the motor, like I said, don't be afraid to spend some money. Seeya.

You can try thepartstrader.com and try your luck, otherwise, probably just start calling engine resellers or JDM importers and hope you get lucky. See if you can find somone who will give you a warrenty too in-case you get it in and findout it grinds or something else. Seeya.
