Default fuel press causing no spark?

Sorry for yet another "no start" post, but it is not clear to me in the service manual.
1995 Civic 1.6 Vtec
No start, no spark. I did the ignition checks (12V voltage present at ignitor)
Fuel pump runs for 2 sec when key is turned on and is pumping fuel (as checked at 6mm inspection bolt on fuel filter head). The problem is that I don't have a guage to check fuel pressure so I don't know if it is low.
Is there a condition in the computer that will not allow spark if fuel press is low? Or should I pursue ignition (ignitor, etc) as the likely cause of the problem?

Thanks a bunch!

the ECU doesn't know what the fuel pressure is with OBD1.
aim for the ignition system.

It could be your main relay that delivers fuel and spark. It is consisted of 2 relays, one for fuel and one for spark.

One for spark? Hmmm. I always thought they were both for fuel -- one was for START and one was for RUN.

Never heard of a main relay causing a no-spark problem. Is there spark at the coil? If yes, check distributor cap, rotor, wires, etc. If no, check coil, igniter, etc.

please read this post for what the main relay does and how to repair it (scroll down about half way for my response)

"there is also two wires (A13 & B1) that run to the ECU that tell the ECU that the Ignition is on... so the ECU may never think that the key is in run and stop the spark"
that's the only way it could stop the spark. Not low fuel pressure.

so the ECU may never think that the key is in run and stop the spark
Good point. Just last week I had to fix my ignition switch for that very reason -- the RUN contact was all corroded.

Sucker'd crank over just fine, but as soon as I released the key to the RUN position, the engine died. So when I released the key from the START position, I rotated it slowly back towards the RUN position just until the starter disengaged. It ran. I could drive the car as long as I held the key there. Took the switch apart, burnished the contacts, and it's fine now.

Seabee -- when you say you have no spark, do you mean while CRANKING?

check you crank position sensor, if resistance is not between 350-600 ohms, you have a defective sensor. Mostly will be your problem or check coil, primary coil resistance should be .63-.77 ohms and secondary resistance should be 12,800-19,200 ohms. Check all sensors in distributor, TDC/CKP/CYP. they all must be working for the ecu to inject fuel.
