Default Built Engine: Red line?

I wanted to know wut you guys think this built engine can rev to, this guy claims well to 10k as in it can withstand that.

Here it is

- Fully Built GSR Bottom End
- Wiseco Pistons (12:1 Compression)
- Eagle Rods
- $8000 B16 head (12,000 RPM)
- Port and Polish
- 5-angle Valve Job
- Custom Oversized Nitrate Valves
- Custom Titanium Retainers
- Custom Lightweight Valve Springs
- Skunk 2 Stage 2 Cams
- Ported Type R intake manifold
- Cold Air Intake
- Skunk 2 Catback Exhaust
- ARP Head Studs

He said he built the motor for all motor drag purposes
and claims u can go well into 10k rpm
is that possible with that setup?

Sounds possible, but not necessary if it doesnt make power that high. I really dont see the point in reving past 9k.

Whats all the fuss lately about revving?

If you make the head ports big usually you need to buzz the motor high in order for the head to start making power....

The key is small port and to maintain velocity or increase it!

With cam gears you can dial the power band down because its cool revving to 12,000rpm but why when you can make the same power at 7000-8500 rpm?

Besides to rev to 10,000-12,000 rpm you need alot more money in ultra lite everything and not to mention more refreshes more often.

This is in my point of view.

I agree. If it's built to handle the high RPMs, put it on a dyno and see how high you make power. Lock the rev limiter on there where the power increase stops. Simple enough.

Amen. If you can afford an engine built that well, spend a few bucks to see what it can do on a dyno. Rev it to ~9300 the first pull, then look at what numbers it can do. If it can't make power over 9k, there's no point in reving up there. Those astronomical revs only wear the engine down faster anyway.

Default the cams

its all about the cams -- if they don't make power to a certain point -- then why rev there? that motor could probably rev well over 10000 but those cams usually only make power to around 9000 -

Uhh... you don't "run out of gear" until you before you reach redline.
