Default Reversing VTEC for a turbo?

What would be the effect if I swapped my h22a cams out in favour of ones with aggressive, high overlap non-VTEC lobes, and tame, low-overlap, high lift VTEC lobes and I had a turbo that spooled above 4,000rpm?

You're saying you've never heard of this kind of setup?

Yeah, a lot of lag. I know a lot of people (assuming that they stick with the Garrett line) will use a GT25R, because of its lower boost threshold. I'm attracted to the GT3071R for a number of reasons, but I'm a lot more interested in my original question, which was about essentially reversing the cam profiles in my H22a.

I assume, as I stated already, that having aggressive profiles up to 4,000rpm, then spooling up the turbo, while shortly thereafter switching to a low-overlap profile would be quite benificial. Moreso than just "removing" VTEC entirely, as some people have suggested.

I'm just trying to see if anyone has done this, and if not, what they think about it.

You're looking at this the wrong way.

You want to spend a lot of money for an engine that will idle like hell (aggressive cams at idle, remember?) and a turbo that will lag like nuts, not to mention increased fuel consumption by running the 'big' cams while off-boost cruising. That doesn't sound worth it to me.

One word: Why? So you can waste fuel and make power out of your powerband?

It would make more sense to just disable vtec entirely.

Alright, that's all I was looking for.

I just figured that this way, I'd be making more power throughout more of my rev range. I also hoped that the increased performance would make the 4,000rpm turbo spool lag less irritating. (I know about aggressive cam idle loping - I did some work with a friend on his B18b1. It had aggressive cams. Anyway.)

I appreciate the input, guys. I guess I should have swapped in an H23.

H22 is just fine. Don't listen to all the people who spout "ur vtak wun wurk wif ur tubro!"
